Raw dinners and the news

My good friend Lisa (Carol Alt’s personal assistant) has an awesome group of raw food enthusiast in Royersford PA. Their group is called the raw food potluckers which has monthly potluck dinners that have been growing to great success. I have organized with Lisa to go to PA on October 27th and produce a huge all you can eat gourmet raw buffet dinner. Their potlucks have raised much interest in the press recently and local papers have been writing about them. Last week Lisa was contacted by Channel 6 News Philadelphia wanting an interview and cover their upcoming potluck event. This is awesome for raw foods in general but also she will be announcing the buffet dinner they will be having Oct 27th with the established Quintessence raw chef coming all the way from NYC. That would be me! For more info on this buffet and also Southampton NY Oct 6th go the http://www.rawchefdan.com/raw_chef_dan/eventspage.html

Michel Moore on Oprah

Michel Moore on Oprah
Michael Moore appeared again on Oprah Thursday, September 27th. Oprah has received thousands of letters from viewers since Mike's appearance in June -- viewers who wanted to share their own health care horror stories. So she invited a number of them to come on today's show, which will feature not only Mike but the head of the health insurance lobby in D.C.
The theme of the show is, 'It Can Happen to You.' And, unfortunately, it can. Joining Oprah and Michael on the show will be Steve Skvara, the steelworker who famously popped the health care question at the Democratic presidential debate in August, and Civia Katz, a Pennsylvania woman who saw 'SiCKO' and decided to send her health care story to MichaelMoore.com.
Tune in today (Thursday) or set your TiVo. Check local listings for show times.
MichaelMoore.com
P.S. And thanks from all of us at MichaelMoore.com for making "Sicko" the third largest grossing documentary of all time. It's still in 39 cities this weekend around the country -- in what is now the film's fourth month of release.

So yha Thursday Michel Moore made his second appearance on Oprah   talking about peoples hospital horror stories and the health insurance crises. I could only watch about ten minutes of it before I got so frustrated I had to turn it off. Sure there is a lack of proper health coverage in the US and all the political and economic scams laced within. BUT with all the speakers, reps, and whistle blowers covering this issues they consistently steer clear of the fact that most of these cases could be avoided entirely with a change in diet. These people don’t need to be sick in the first place. The much bigger scam that has yet to be addressed in this topic is the scam of the FDA and political powers that be are implementing an agenda to make and keep us sick. Sickness is big business! If you were on Oprah wouldn't you say that you don’t want to pay insurance companies, you don’t want insurance in order to cover standard health treatments, you don’t want to be part of the system because you would prefer to just be healthy? Why don’t they put some money into helping people learn how to become and stay healthy? I would much prefer my insurance company to pay for two weeks at Anne Wigmore Institute in Puerto Rico than to pay for pharmaceuticals and surgery. The real crises here is education and lack of awareness. People have the power to take control of there own health and that needs to be heard. Please post you comments below I would love to hear what you have to say.

Shoot with Garry Null for PBS

Thursday morning I did the last shoot of 4 with Garry Null for his upcoming PBS special on diet and health. We shot in my tiny kitchen at Quintessence restaurant. I had to send my staff out for 30 minutes while I whipped up some goodies at supper speed. They needed the footage of prepping Raw Foods and I needed to get my crew back in the kitchen. It all worked out and the shoot looks awesome. I’ll keep you posted as to the airtime.

About juicing!

Got this question on my mysapce a while back and though it would be good to share it with you all.

Question:

Greetings,

I was wondering what your ideas are as to enzymes and the deterioration of them over time. I find that the best way to ingest the healthiest (food?), is to drink it. I have a masticating juicer that makes the most amazing juice and if I wait to long to drink it, I find that well it is not as good as when I first made it. In my opinion this is better than 'raw' food. Let me know. By the way, I am currently on a juice fast and will let you know how it goes.

Sincerely
Daniel

My response:

Juicing is one of the best ways to get dense amounts of high quality nutrients into your system and yes the fresher the better. As your juice sits it begins to oxidize and the Alkalinity of it decreases as time passes. The thing with juicing is the process removes all the fiber and a quite useful portion of the vitamins, minerals... in the flesh of the fruits and or vegetable. Therefore the absolute best nutritional mega dose is a good blended soup. Like this tasty Arugula Pear Soup.

The Almond story continues

Killing_almonds
Just got this in my email this weekend

Dear Friend,
The pasteurization mandate is now in place, but we are still aggressively pushing our case for suspension of the rule. I wanted to provide this brief update on where we stand.

We have had zero response from the USDA and our request of Secretary Johanns to suspend the implementation of the rule. He received the joint sign-on letter on August 28th signed by more than 140 stakeholders representing commercial, farmer, manufacturer, public and farm policy interests. We are continuing to ramp-up pressure on the Secretary's office.

We have shared the same sign-on letter with key members of Congress. Many of the farm and public interest groups who are working on this issue have sent out almond action alerts to their members urging them to contact their representatives. We are hearing that letters and emails are coming into Congressional offices.

Raw Chef Dan at Alex Grey's Chaple

Dan_alex_alison_and_anina_lr
Yesterday my great friend Anina of Anina.net and 360fashion visited Alex and Alison Grey’s infamous Cosm Chapel of Sacred Mirrors for a private guided tour. Allyson took use through the entire chapel for the completely narrated journey detailing the work and meaning. Awesome to say the least! I was invited to contribute my talents and a raw food chef sharing and showcasing the best raw food has to effort for the November 9th fundraiser. Alex and Allyson are working toward buying land and building a dedicated Chapel to permanently house the conceptual art and awareness of the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors.

Stay tunes for more on this event.
Hall

My impression and understanding of The Chapel and the art within is a powerful and important social political and spiritual entity and really must be preserved and protected, please help find a permanent home for this amazing gift so it can remain available to the public. Check out the websites and donate whatever you can. I think this must live on in it most glorious fashion.

JILL STUART FASHION WEEK CATERING

JILL STUART FASHION WEEK CATERING

this past new york fashion week i had the pleasure to cater for Jill Stuart. she enjoyed eating raw so much that she even brought me in for the whole week. i got to see firsthand how raw food can be a powerful sustenance during the crunch times at fashion week, where people do not sleep a lot, stress intensely, and need a lot of energy to complete tasks by the due date of the show.
