Quick Question Please

Durian_open_1 What is one of the most prehistoric jungle foods on earth today?

What at first experience can taste like onion or cheese then upon repeated exposure will transform into a deliciously sweet and creamy pastry flavor?

What it so attractive to a great variety of animals and insects, including monkeys, gibbons, orangutans, birds, dogs, pigs, rhinoceros, bears, squirrels, tapirs, deer, elephants, tigers and many more who would travel large distances to indulge in this delicious treat.

What upon eating becomes so profoundly fulfilling that it comes close to a spiritual experience?

What when eaten can create euphoric states just like when being in love?

And what addiction is there that has no side effects other than bliss and happiness

Scientists seek methods to reduce acrylamide

29/11/2007 - Acrylamide and 50 other heat-induced compounds in foods may cause cancer, scientists have concluded in a report released yesterday of a major three-year EU study into the chemical.

The study adds to the accumulating evidence that acrylamide, formed in foods during heating or frying processes, poses a health problem, and puts more pressure on processors to reduce the chemical in their products.

Reduction may involve reformulation, revising processing and cooking times, or the use of varieties of ingredients that do not result in as much acrylamide formation as their counterparts.

The EU three-year project, known as Heat-generated Food Toxicants (Heatox), was launched to fill in the gaps on the formation of acrylamide in cooked foods and provide advice to industry.

sprouting facts, myths and the overly complicated.

So today I would like to address a pet peeve of mine. As I have stated in my post before, ether on my Myspace Blog or elsewhere much misinformation is being distributed and taught religiously by many “Raw Chefs and or Gurus” and it really gets to me.
One such instance in which I was so shocked to hear (actually i saw on you tube) was from a well know figure in the UK raw food scene. I won’t mention any names as that will only cause unnecessary turbulence. But the reason that it shocked me was not that the info was incorrect but that it came from a person whom we all would think knew what that person was talking about. This is one of the top leaders in the UK community and with the years of experience and knowledge behind this person you would think something so basic would be correct. Then speaking with a friend about this informed me she had attended one of the worlds most established and recognized raw chef schools I will not name had taught her the same misinformation. WHAT! I lashed, that school, there? Really? Who would have thought? Let me clear this up right now before my head explodes.

E-Reader Show with Jeff Bezos

Liveblogging the Amazon Kindle E-Reader Show with Jeff Bezos Amazon has summoned the NY press and blogger corp to the W Hotel on Union Square to watch Jeff Bezos unveil it electronic book reader, the Kindle. We’ll see if there is anything left to learn. Peter Ha from CrunchGear is sitting right next to me bloggingand taking pics (can you say overkill?). Here we go: 9:41 AM: Jeff Bezos takes the stage: Shows a tablet, then some papyrus, then a codex, a picture of Gutenberg (invented mass production of books,” thanks jeff). He made 180 copies of his most famous book, the Gutenberg bible. Bezos: “This is a 500 year old technology. We forget it is a technology. As readers we don’t think about this often. You print books 16 pages at a time or 32 pages at a time, that collection is called a signature that gets folded, the edged get abraded. the printing press has definitely gotten a lot more sophisticated since Gutenberg’s time. Gutenberg would still recognize a modern-day book.” “Why are books the last bastion of analog. they have stubbornly resisted digitization. The book is so highly evolved and suited to its tasks that it is hard to displace. the key feature of a book is that it disappears when you read it.

Use PayPal now on any site for any purchas

I got this from my close friend Anina yesterday. Check it out.

Your friend 360fashion@anina.net wanted to inform you about the following

PayPal To Offer Virtual Credit Card Payment Product
Paypal will launch a new virtual credit card payment product Tuesday. The new service “PayPal Secure Card” generates a one use unique Mastercard number that Paypal users can utilize to make payments on sites that don’t take Paypal. According to Reuters, the software package with PayPal Secure Card automatically recognizes an e-commerce checkout page and fills out the payment information for the user. The move is said to be in response to Google’s Checkout service (launched June 06) that also stores financial details for secure online payments. It’s a great idea; not only does this open up Paypal accounts to shopping on sites that don’t take Paypal, it also provides credit card access to folks who don’t have a credit card (or similar credit style debit card), either by choice or because they are unable to obtain one. On the security front it also provides an alternative to using your actual credit card online, a secure way of using your credit card (if linked to your Paypal account) without the risk of your real details being disclosed. Carol Alt's "The Raw 50"

Carmella from British Columbia wrote a great article about Carol Alt's book, "The Raw 50". Carol came to me and asked me for a daily meal plan that was simple, tasty, and easy to prepare, so I was really happy to give her the recipes in this book. I'm glad that Carmella really enjoyed this book and got a lot of value out of it. You can check out the photos on her blog and read her review:

Carol Alt is one of those natural beauties. Once declared "the most beautiful woman of the world", she is now in her late 40s and continues to radiate health. What is her secret you ask? Eating whatever she wants and as much as she wants... as long as it's raw!
