Fast Food Beverages Might be Worse Than Toilet Water
Twelve-year-old middle school student Jasmine Roberts' project won the science fair at her school.
Her results were not what she expected, and have serious implications for everyone.
Her project compared the ice used in the drinks at five fast food restaurants with the water from toilet bowls in the same establishments. Seventy percent of the time, the ice had more bacteria than the toilet water.
In four of the five restaurants, ice from the self-serve machines had more bacteria than toilet water, as did three out of five cups of ice from drive-through windows. Sixty percent of the restaurant ice also tested positive for E. coli, which comes from the feces of animals and can cause serious illness.
While a certain amount of bacteria in water is considered harmless, no amount of E. coli is acceptable, however small.
Recently I received an email referencing the battle to maintain the availability of Raw Milk to the public. See the Continue Reading link below for the original email.
I do agree that the Government should stay out of one's personal choice to consume the food of their choice however I do not advocate the consumption of mother’s milk of another animal especially a cow nor the consumption of mother milk beyond infancy. Never-the-less, the never ending battle of our freedom of choice is a huge one and any battle therein is one worth fighting whether the subject of such a battle is one in which one supports or not. The very idea that our government can tell an individual what to consume and what not to consume goes completely, 100% against the US constitution. It really falls under the same ideals as our freedom of religion, what we choose to eat is NON OF THEIR FUCKING BUSINESS. If they feel inclined to publish, even advertise publicly their warnings and advice on human consumption, go for it but the final choice should ultimately be up to the consumer. As in every choice of an individual, it is the availability of factual information of the consequences of lifestyle choices that is the true issue. How is it possible nearly anyone can purchase a pack of cigarettes, one of the world biggest killers, and at the same time not be able to eat Raw Almonds? This stupidity must certainly raise a suspicious eye. Telling me it’s OK to smoke a cigarette and not drink Raw Milk is a complete and total mountain of crap. If the average citizen would simply look at this blatant and obvious paradox, speak up, ask questions and demand a reasonable response, the world would be a different place. The truth is that cigarettes cause cancer supporting a huge economic staple of the death business and Almond are a powerful constituent to avoiding cancer, effectively threatening that business. That would be very obvious if both sides were equally made public. It really should not be that difficult with the internet as information, as I am posting now, is made available to anyone wanting to search and discover / uncover it. Even that will be threatened soon as the government has plans to control the internet as well. That will happen too if we don’t fight back now. First raw Almonds, then raw milk, then raw greens, then, then, then… When will people wake up? When will people have enough? The government fears greatly this possibility and that is why you can live on brain numbing foods, tainted water supplies, slacking educational standards, retarding Television programming, video games and manipulated news media. As John Lyden of the Sex Pistols said back in the mid 80s “They want to keep you stupid”.
he amount of dangerous bisphenol A (BPA) that leaches from plastic bottles into the drinks they contain is most dependent on the liquid's temperature, according to new research. When both new and used polycarbonate drinking bottles were exposed to boiling hot water, BPA was released 55 times more rapidly.
When it comes to Bisphenol A (BPA) exposure from polycarbonate plastic bottles, it's not whether the container is new or old but the liquid's temperature that has the most impact on how much BPA is released, according to University of Cincinnati (UC) scientists.
Scott Belcher, PhD, and his team found when the same new and used polycarbonate drinking bottles were exposed to boiling hot water, BPA, an environmental estrogen, was released 55 times more rapidly than before exposure to hot water.
"Previous studies have shown that if you repeatedly scrub, dish-wash and boil polycarbonate baby bottles, they release BPA. That tells us that BPA can migrate from various polycarbonate plastics," explains Belcher, UC associate professor of pharmacology and cell biophysics and corresponding study author. "But we wanted to know if 'normal' use caused increased release from something that we all use, and to identify what was the most important factor that impacts release."

I got this from a Raw Chef Dan YouTube Fan a few days ago. It may benefit you as well!
Hi man,
I really love your friendly helpful manner. And I hope you can help me to get started
Now,
I got turned onto learning about raw food after getting into
Permaculture. Found out about this book by Steve Charter called Eat
More Raw. But he seems to recommend MANULA juicers, etc, and this threw
me. I began trying to research them and all they do is wheatgrass.
So I was put off. However, I really want to begin now, so I can tackle any Raw food recipe. I already have a blender
So you say I need food processer and juicer?
Could you let me know what type of a food processer is good?
And
another thing that threw me regarding Juicers. I watched a video by a
top CA. Raw food restauranter who said he didn't do Juicers cause
'Nature don't juice'. meaning that you get whole fruits etc
What do you think about that?
Best Juicer I have used is the Jack LaLanne but check this out:

As for "getting Started"? Hey man I'll tell you right now. Don't make it harder than it is. You can get into the fancy stuff as you go but just start adding some juices, smoothies, salads with home made dressings and fresh fruit. Watch more videos and visit my site for help as you go. I have a "Tip Of The Week" Free Recipes and more help on my blog. A little at a time and have fun making new tasty stuff. It's just food man, just eat real food. http://www.rawchefdan.com
For a food processor hands down it a Cuisinart. Don't even mess around with anything else.
Go here to get it: http://www.rawchefdan.com/raw_chef_dan/shoppingpage.html
As for "juicing Good or Bad" again man, these people talk like the only thing your going to have is juice. They keep good people like you from doing anything at all. If you tried to take in an equivalent portion of nutrients using only whole foods you would have to eat a mountain of food. JUST EAT man EAT and DRINK. FOOD,,, GOOD,, UG YHAA FOOD, GOOD. EAT DRINK GOOD FOOD , , AAA AAA, , AA , ,, , , YHAAAA.
No for real, eat more raw foods and add some juices and smoothies. It should all be fun, good and tasty (even better than processed foods) not a job, drag, work or crappy tasting. Eating well is not a compromise but a discovery of quality and flavor you never knew about.

P.S. If you want to jump start you health and diet transformation I suggest taking my 5 Day juicy fast program. After that better food choices are a sinch.

My good friend Kevin posted this today on his awesome blog and I want to share it with you:

This is a question I get often about holistic nutrition and vegan and raw food…
“How can I afford staying healthy? It seems like all these things everyone is recommending cost so much money!”
I have firsthand experience with this, so I’m certainly qualified to answer.
When Annmarie and I were first starting our personal training business, we didn’t even know where the mortgage payment was going to come from so as you can imagine our budget was tight.
So here are some of the things we did…
We borrowed a juicer from a friend.
I guarantee one of your friends or family members has a juicer sitting in the closet that they’re not using that’s just waiting for some love. In fact we have a really nice Champion that we don’t use in our closet it needs a soulmate. (In case any one wants to bid on it!)
You may even be able to find these items on EBay as well.
I took inventory of the supplements and things that we needed as well as made a list of all the other things we wanted on a regular basis like a dehydrator, Vitamix, etc.
We ended up getting a cheap blender to start for our smoothies. But here’s what’s funny about that. Before we got the Vitamix we have now, we broke about 3 $100 blenders, so it would really have been worth it to get the Vitamix in the first place!
We went to a local health food store and they had a co-op which was cheaper than getting all our fruits and veggies separately. What they did was basically give you 2 big bags of goodies every week. They’ve since closed down, but we still buy in bulk when we can.
As for supplements, we’d buy what we could and then refer to the list when we had a little more to spend. We were as patient as we could be–adding things as we became more stable financially.
We had a cheap shower and water filter from Aquasana, we’ve since upgraded.
We eventually brought green cleaning detergents and soaps into the house. (We are in the market to get rid of both of our cars in 2009 to give the environment a break as well.)
Now we’ve reached a point, through this process, where we have what we need and get what we want for our health.
Sure I still want a built in infra-red sauna and a few other toys, but
we’re waiting until we move to a more pedestrian friendly place where
we might stay a while.
So how can this help you?

Thursday morning I did the last shoot of 4 with Garry Null for his upcoming PBS special on diet and health. We shot in my tiny kitchen at Quintessence restaurant. I had to send my staff out for 30 minutes while I whipped up some goodies at supper speed. They needed the footage of prepping Raw Foods and I needed to get my crew back in the kitchen. It all worked out and the shoot looks awesome. I’ll keep you posted as to the airtime.
