It is said that Buddha sitting at his tree once said “the silence between the notes is just as important to the song as the notes are.
We often find ourselves wanting to always fill those moments of inactivity. Sometime we speak because the silence and be unsettling, or put something on a shelf because there was an empty spot. Sometimes we surround ourselves to avoid being alone or turn on the TV to keep a flow of stimulation going on. Why is this, what are we doing. Most, not all, but most people are afraid of their own thoughts. Left alone in quiet where there is no stimulus or influence we drift to our own inner dialogue. What that is weather you are distracted from it or aware of it, is a mish-mosh of worries, notes to self, flashbacks of yesterday, conversations, what you should have said, could have said, reminders, food or eating, planning tomorrow, dreams… everything that bring us frustration and feelings of being overwhelmed. For others it is simply unfamiliar and try to drowned it out all the time.
This month work on finding time where you have complete peace and let your mind go, Let thoughts run with no restraint in a flow of free thought. This can release so much pent up angst and stress it is really unbelievable.
Try it and let me know what happens.
